NOTICE OF RACE (NoR)
The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of
the protest committee, be less than disqualification.
1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 [DP] RRS 40.1 applies to competitors at all times while afloat.
2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS (SI’s)
The SI’s will be available after 1800hrs on 8th of July at the NSC.
3.1 The official notice board is located in the screened porch of the clubhouse.
3.2 [DP] From the first warning signal until the end of the last race of the day, except in an
emergency, a boat shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or
data communication that is not available to all boats.
4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The event is open to all classes.
4.2 To be considered an entry in the event, a boat shall have completed all registration
requirements and paid all fees.
4.3 Boats of the same class registered by the 9th of July at 0855 hrs may be scored as a fleet at
the discretion of the Race Officer (RO). All other boats will be scored using the current wind
adjusted Portsmouth handicapping system.
5.1 Regatta (includes the two day regatta [wind dependent] and a Wine & Cheese on Friday):
5.2 NO MEALS will be provided due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – Bar-B-Ques will be
available for use at the club.
Volunteers are providing some baking goods on Saturday night, and coffee will be available Saturday and Sunday morning.

6.2 Ten races are scheduled.
Racing will take place on the waters at Kinbrook Island Provincial Park on Newell Lake, Alberta.
The courses to be sailed will be Windward/Leeward with a Hollywood Finish.
9 PENALTY SYSTEM
For the 29er class RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-
10.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
10.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of
her race scores.
(b) When from 5 to 9 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of
her race scores excluding her worst score.
(c) When 10 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of
her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
[DP] Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while in the boat park.
12 RISK STATEMENT
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 3, DECISION TO
RACE. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury
or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum
cover of $1,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.
