PWR 2024 Volunteers
To run the Prairie Wind Regatta smoothly, we rely on our members to volunteer! And apart from being close to the action, it is also a lot of fun to help out at a very special regatta! Also, we supply free meals to our volunteers, but only if you sign up!
This year we are looking to fulfill the following positions:
Signal Boat
The Signal Boat is the heart of the race, it’s where the timing is done, the races are started from and they decide on the the courses of the race. There are usually 3 or 4 people on the Signal boat.
Marks Boat
They put out the marks/buoys for the races. If you have back issues, this is not the job for you!
Kitchen Staff
Participants of the PWR have the option to buy a meal plan! It is a very popular option and the kitchen crew is busy both days to dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday sorted.
Shore Duty
- Help the contestants to launch their boats in the morning, return the dolly to the designated parking spot for the dolly’s and make sure everyone gets on their way as fast as possible.
- In the afternoon they help when the boats come in, launch the dolly and help pulling the boat on to the ramp.
- Do some janitorial work to help out the kitchen staff (this includes, but is not restricted to removal of garbage and replace the bags, cleaning the tables during the day before dinner and anything else to make the kitchen staff happy, cleaning the Club bathrooms).
If you are interested to help out, please use the form below to let us know! We will let you know the planning the week before the regatta!
