Newell Sailing Club
Welcome to the Newell Sailing Club (NSC)!
We sail on Lake Newell, which is owned by EID (Eastern Irrigation District). EID has granted access to the lake for watersports. Our Club House is on the beautiful Kinbrook Island and if you are into non-motorized watersports and interested in mingling with like-minded spirits, you should definitely come by for a visit, or become a member of the Club.
We are a fairly active Club, we organize the Prairie Wind Regatta, one of the most popular regatta's in West Canada. The Prairie Wind Regatta is open to all sailors in the various categories. We also organize the Corn Cob Regatta, which is a very social event and only open to members of the NSC. In the summer many members come by on Sunday afternoons for potluck dinners and a glass of wine, to share stories and relax.
The Club owns several types of sailing boats and kayaks and all members are allowed to use them. There is no booking system, if the boat/kayak is available, you can take it.
We are currently at capacity, meaning that we cannot store any more boats. But usually new spots open at the beginning of the season, so if you are interested in becoming a member, please email us or fill in the registration form.
2023 Event Dates
EID Invasive Species Prevention Program
In 2018, the Eastern Irrigation District (EID) initiated an Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program.
All boaters wishing to access EID reservoirs must follow approved prevention procedures and complete a watercraft information form stating they will not knowingly spread aquatic invasive species.
As part of the program, trailered watercraft must only be launched from approved boat launches and boaters must check in with the campground, marina, or EID office before launching.
Canoes, kayaks, and other non-trailered watercraft may continue to be launched at random locations, but the boaters are still required to check in with the campground, marina, or EID office prior to launching.
During the week, boaters can go to the EID office, Lake Newell Resort Marina, Rolling Hills Campground, or Crawling Valley Campground to fill out a watercraft registration form.
