Cat Clinic 2026
Friday, July 3 until Sunday, July 5
On the weekend of July 3-5, the Newell Sailing Club is hosting their annual Cat Clinic! The purpose of the Catamaran Clinic is to promote catamaran sailing in Alberta and establish a sense of community, support and camaraderie.
Itinerary
Over the course of the three day event and weather permitting…
- If you’ve never been on a cat before, or if you’ve never sailed before, we’d like to take you out for a ride on a catamaran (we’ll supply the necessary gear). This way you can get a taste of what it’s like and decide if Cat sailing is something you’d like pursue.
- For those with their own catamarans attending, a discussion on safety, repairs/maintenance, sailing skills on the water using a sail course, the Lake Newell Sailing Challenge, the Race Yourself concept, and other sailing exercises that would be helpful.
- A bit of socializing with a potluck supper planned for one of the evenings.
- Information on different catamarans that come up for sale. If you are contemplating buying a catamaran you may have questions that our group could answer or provide valuable information on what things to consider.
Would you like to join us?
The Cat Clinic is open to members and non-members of the Newell Sailing Club, but:
- You have to be 12 years or older.
- You don’t have to be able to sail (we will take you out and teach you the basics of sailing), but you do have to be able to swim.
And although it is a free event, a donation to the NSC would be immensely appreciated.
