Michael and Susan Sonnie, Hamish and Frances Ferguson and Don and Sharon Snell attended the 47th Annual North American Seaspray Championships that was hosted by the Humboldt Yacht Club during the Redwood Regatta on Big Lagoon, Northern California over the long September weekend.   Eleven races total for the Seaspray fleet of seven boats started on Friday with good winds and five races sailed.  Saturday and Sunday each had 3 races in lighter winds and sometimes even fog.  Sailing in the fog was cool in that boats would appear and disappear and your sense of direction to the mark was even more difficult.  Big Lagoon was a camping only venue and luckily for us tenters the rains held off and things were fairly dry except for the heavy dew overnight.  Michael Butler from Fort Bragg, California placed 1st, Don Snell 2nd and Jay Gardner from Napa, California placed third.  Congratulations to all who attended and raced.
Part of the fun of these long distance events is the trip there and back.  Plans to take in other attractions always yields some interesting surprises and Northern California, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho states all have there interesting potential side trips.  Glad everyone had a safe trip and a fun adventurous time.
