Corn Cob Regatta

Aug 26th starting around 1pm three teams of  sailboats, kayaks and windsurfers were chosen for an around bird island race.  The event was organized and capably run by MIss Amy Mills who did an admiral job of setting up the day.  I didn't count the number of participants but there must have been 15 or 16 in the fleet.  The prizes for the winning team were jars of honey supplied by Kieran Mills and luckily I was on a winning team.  After the race which was fairly long to complete due to the light wind conditions and seemingly lazy kayak paddlers a delicious potluck supper complemented by roasted Taber Corn was enjoyed by all.

It has been a hot and dry summer with on average lighter winds.  It was nice to see such a good number of club members out to participate in this event.  It would be fun to have a couple of these events in the season rather than just this one.  Perhaps we can do something about that for next year.
