30th Prairie Wind Regatta

Our 30th annual Prairie Wind Regatta was hi-lighted with entertainment from Medicine Hat.  A very accomplished guitarist, Rob Hudec along with a bass player entertained a large group of people until a little past 11pm Saturday night.  The regatta started on Friday July 7th with the Seaspray catamarans competing for the Canadian National title.  Winds were a bit light but 4 races were completed.  Saturday July 8th was a better wind day and 4 longer races were sailed by all of the fleet, about 55 boats in total.  Sunday July 9th was a light wind day and two more races were completed.  The fleets consisted of Seaspray Catamarans, Lasers, Laser radials, Fireballs, X-class Catamarans, San Juan 21's, Optimist Dingies, and others.
The food group outdid themselves again and nobody went away hungry or unsatisfied.  Around 100+ people were fed at meal times.  The weather was unusually hot (mid 30's) and almost intolerable, that is, until you doused yourself in the lake.  It goes without saying that our volunteers deserve to be honored and thanked for all of their efforts whether they participated fully or partially helping in any way.  This is our club's biggest annual project and it takes a lot of people's help.
